Aside from the awesome new booth we were able to utilize, we had a blast exploring Louisville, KY and eating some incredible food. There were a ton of great places we visited, but the one being featured here is Royal's Hot Chicken. If you get the chance to go, go as spicy as you can because apparently Kentucky “hot” is the same as a Texas “mild.”

We took along a few prototype bags we were able to show off on our social media, and the next post will feature at least one of those!

Speaking of trade shows, guess where a large portion of our team is headed this week. Is your guess ready? If you said, “Louisville, Kentucky,” you’re right! It’s the time of year for the NRA Annual Meeting!

ost of the Red Rock Outdoor Gear team has never been to Kentucky, so we are looking forward to taking in a few of the local sites, like Thomas Edison House and the Louisville Slugger Museum. If you’re in the area, please swing by booth number 6341. The first 10 people who mention this blog post will be given a free Red Rock Outdoor Gear ball cap!

The biggest news (which you’d already know if you follow us on Instagram or Twitter) is that we have a new sister brand; the Emmons Manufacturing Company is a 100% American line of packs and gear. 

We are extremely excited to build out the line and have a premium product made right here in Central Texas. You can follow them on Instagram and Twitter or like them on Facebook. All we can show you right now are the first three bags, but there are two more for that will be included in the official launch, and a second color option which is pretty sharp looking, if we do say so ourselves.

We probably won’t get to share much more about the Emmons Manufacturing Company on here, so get on their social media if you’d like to know more.

Last week, we were in beautiful Salt Lake City, Utah for the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market. Aside from the fact that it was during The Inversion (part of which now resides in both Guy and myself, and may still be trying to murder us from within), it was a super-successful show with tons of new products. We also made some time to hang out with some of our industry friends like the fine folks from Stanley-PMI and real-life adventurer/American Ninja Warrior Ryan “Handsome” Robinson.

Something else we can finally share is that our 2016 catalogs have been printed and have started going out to our wholesale customers. A digital version is available on our site; take a look if you want to see more shots of Kuma the dog, or some of the folks who work here.

Dark Earth is the color on the left, and Tornado is on the right. We have been adding these two colors to most of our top items like the Rover, Recon, Assault Pack, and Large Assault Pack, plus will be have almost all of our MOLLE accessories available in Tornado before the summer! Also coming in 2016? New lower prices; stay tuned for more information.

Last week, I mentioned us going to five trade shows this January and February; the first of these shows will be the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market. The Outdoor Retailer Winter Market (aka OR, to those in the know) is one of our favorite shows to do. It’s hosted in Salt Lake City, UT, which is home to my favorite brewery, Uinta. We somehow got a private tour this summer, which was awesome and filled with samples. 

The food and beer in Salt Lake City is great, but OR gets a bunch of well-known and growing brands together under one roof. Being around your peers, competitors, and innovators is always energizing which helps us come back to make more new stuff for y’all. Plus, we usually get to walk away with a ton of free stuff.

Next week we will talk about a few more of the upcoming shows.

Now that the catalogs are completed, we get to move on to the next project on which we’ve been procrastinating; TRADE SHOWS!!!! We will be exhibiting at five different shows during January and February.
